I have no talent for evaluating a business’s core competency. But, if core competency is the true threat the business was ill-conceived. Finance, systems and marketing are back office disciplines that, for many reasons, fail to gain management priority until becoming lethal threats.
Accountants are great at recording transactions and doing taxes, but “management” accounting is an entirely different discipline. Marketers often peddle self-serving packages that are not cost-effective and lack targeted focus. Systems sole purpose is efficiency. But, to be good at systems requires a ceaseless dedication to learning and management’s commitment without which the best system has no chance.
The turnaround project gives the ailing enterprise prompt and easy access to those critical solutions and efficiencies. It’s what I do. And, in the darkest hour, together we create hope that makes the client’s cash register ring while keeping the doors open.
